NORTH HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) — Police
are searching for a believe who shot and killed an equipped safety guard at a
strip mall in Panorama City.
The fatal shooting happened approximately
10 p.m. Thursday next to Mercado 3 Hermanos in the 15000 obstruct of Roscoe
Boulevard.
Establishment have not recognized
the victim, but friends and family recognized him as Oscar Vasquez.
He was shot in the head and was
pronounced deceased at the sight. Police said his bludgeon was missing.
Vasquez was familiar in the population
and had worked at the small mall for 12 years. He plants behind a wife and
three daughters.
“He was a fine father. He cared regarding
his children very much,” wife Raquel Ortiz said during a translator. She later
created a version for donations to the family.
She said he often sent his children
cash, and she didn’t identify what she was going to do on her individual now.
The victim’s nephew, Frankie Alvaranga,
told KTLA that Vasquez was trained and permitted to carry a handgun, which he
had with him.
“His pistol was on his left side,
he had his holster on his left side,” Alvaranga said.
“By what I know of tonight, what he
did was he tried to pull his pepper cover out first,” he said. “His pepper scatter
was established on his right side by the ground.”
The expect fled the view. He was
described only as a Hispanic male wearing a brown hoodie.
