Security firm at drill site, pending license


Gogebic Taconite, horrible this week for its use of equipped, paramilitary-style guards from an Arizona safety firm, announce Friday it is provisionally suspend use of Bulletproof safety since the company is not approved to do trade in Wisconsin.

Bill Williams, GTAC president, said the group is approved in Arizona but not in Wisconsin. “We recognize they have functional for the suitable Wisconsin license but not yet had their request approved.

“GTAC has poised use of this company’s services at our site until the essential approvals have been decided. We have been utilize numerous security arrangements and will rely on those other possessions until this merchant is certified.”

A day previous, before news of the licensing concern surfaced, the mining company had declared that the paramilitary-style patrols would continue despite widespread condemnation.

Brittany Lewin, a spokesperson for the state subdivision of security and expert Services, sent the following response Friday sunrise when contacted by WCIJ:

“Bulletproof Securities has contacted the division and has indicated its meaning to suggest a authorize request.”

Lewin did not say after the corporation had applied but said processing time for a Private Detective/Security protector organization certificate is two to three days.
