The masked
men be waiting in a car outer surface the Royal Bank of Scotland division in
Cleland's Main Street when a G4S security van arrived just behind 2pm.
One of the
thieves followed a safety guard into the bank and susceptible him with a weapon.
The man
demanded the protector hand over a case containing an secret quantity previous
to running out of the stock and into a black Volkswagen Golf GTI which sped off
in the way of Shots.
The firearm
was not fired and nobody was upset in the theft but organization and customers
in the bank were left surprised by the theft.
The car,
which was later found burnt out in Stawstonfoot Road, was seized by police who diagram
to carry out forensic tests on the motor vehicle.
Detective
Chief Examiner Pat Campbell said:"It's very important we grab the men accountable
for this theft.
Brandishing a
firearm in wide daylight is completely improper and the penalty could have been
much more grave.
"It is potential
the black Golf GTI that was used by the suspects may have been in the area
prior to the theft, and I would appeal to anyone who saw it to contact us.
"We are
checking CCTV and previously, a number of people have come onward to help with
the examination, however I'd still support anyone who has any in order, An
eyewitness told STV News: "I was passing the RBS branch in Cleland at approximately
3pm and there was concerning four police cars and vans, alongside police tape.
"There
were police officers standing outside the bank with who I'm guessing were
members of staff and numerous men in suits with clipboards. There was also a
white van with a photographer who reserved going in and out of the bank.
"There's
police going back and forth to the bank, a woman taking statements from populace
in the area and a police helicopter was also incisive the area earlier."
Both the
robbers were wearing dark clothing and masks.
